Christmas and Vacations :)

Well Merry Christmas to everyone! (a bit late).

Christmas was kind of hard for me. I know its just another day but thinking of all the good food, music, fun, family, food, and good times had me a little bummed. It did not feel like Christmas at all, not that it really feels like Christmas in Florida either but at least i would have been with family and Yoise. In Nicaragua they celebrate Christmas on the 24th. During the day i just relaxed and hung out with the family here and the family that is taking care of my dog. There were also baseball games throughout the day so i spent time there as well. At night the family made a good dinner and i ate with them and then met up with some friends in the park. I was invited that night to go to mass because my friend was baptizing her son, so needless to say that was my first catholic mass in a few years, the last time being a funeral for my friend in college. After mass there was a huge party in town so i went down to the bar and had a few beers and danced with some friends.
Christmas day is not celebrated so it was just another day. I hung out around town and went to some more baseball games.
My friend Robyn lives in a town close to me here and we talk every day. We decided that we did not want to spend New Years in our sites so we have planned a trip her, her site mate (another PCV that lives in her town) and myself. We leave tomorrow and are heading down to San Carlos and off to a town called Boca de sabalos where robyn and i have a friend from our group. We are spending the night in her town and seeing where she lives. The next morning we are kayaking from her town to the town of El Castillo and then we are taking a boat over to a rain forest reserve where we will be hiking in the afternoon, taking a night tour on the river to see little crocodiles etc. and then spending the night in a cabin and hiking the other side of the river in the morning then heading back to boca de sabalos. Saturday (new years eve) we will be traveling over to El Castillo to see the old war fort there and hang out for the afternoon. We will be staying there saturday and sunday and celebrating new years there. Monday its back to San Carlos (hopefully getting all my mail) and then back to site on monday afternoon.
I will blog about my trip when i get back and i promise i will post pictures sometime. My internet connection is VERY SLOW in my town and it is nearly impossible to post pictures on my blog, but for some reason facebook is faster. I shall be in Managua at the end of January where i will have a great connection so i will post a bunch of pictures to my blog then.
